hi,
my problem is this: as I see in the "filters" section of MPC it looks like MPC can play .rm files without having realplayer installed, but when i try to open a .rm file MPC reports that it couldn't render some of the pins in the graph and in the status bar it says "cannot render any of the streams". Can MPC play .rm files without having realplayer installed? If yes, what should I do to make it play my .rm files? plz help me because I don't extra programs on my PC just to play one file format, I want to play them all on MPC(i know that i can install realplayer nd use MPC,but realplayer will be still on my PC taking up space)

thanks in advance

You will need realplayer for the codecs. MPC include only a "splitter". Once RP is installed, you'll be able to play the RM in MPC.

You can have more infos here:

If other people wish to make comments, I suggest you read rule #6 before posting. Thanks.

thanks. I see that ffdshow can play realvideo(i saw it also on the tooltip in MPC). i configured ffdshow to play rv10 but nothing. Is it possible to use ffdshow instead of installing realplayer to get the codecs? if yes, plz tell the way. thanks again.

ffdshow rv10 = RV 1.0, not RV 10. RV10 fourcc is RV40 :)

The only legal way to playback RealVideo content is to install RealPlayer, then use MPC. You are not required to run RP.

I think installing 'Real'Alternative' should solve your Problem. It installes only the 'Real Codecs' without the player. You should be able to play real files than.

yeah i'll share but i hope i don't get striked. anyway,

sometime ago i had downloaded a big(in size about 25mb) codec pack which had the realvideo codecs. recently i formatted my harddisc and i didn't reinstall the codec pack because it added much junk on my pc.now i installed it but i chose to install only the realvideo codecs.

Please do not post links to Realmedia codec packs. These are considered warez. In the previous thread someone posted such a link I said the next time it happened I would issue two strikes according to rule #6 from then on. Then I also included the same clear warning in the sticky RealVideo info post.
