View Full Version : Wrong mpeg2 video length after muxing

Greetings!

Have used the search alright, but did not seem to find any similar topic.

My problem would be the title above. I use Cuttermaran 1.65 to cut long mpeg2 streams recorded from DVB source. The clips (usually musicvideos) I extract from them are 3-4 minutes long, or so. Cuttermaran cuts the audio stream as well, so the only job left is to multiplex them together. But most of the times, the length of the result I see in several players (older crystal players, MPlayer Classic, bsplayer, windows mediaplayers) differs from what it should be. Like I get 1:45 instead of 3:34, or in some cases 5 minutes instead of 4:45. The m2v video stream has correct length in all players mentioned, the trouble is only with the muxed output.

Since Cuttermaran supports cutting at B of P frames by recompressing the incomplete GOP, I usually don't cut at I frames, despite that in the few times the beginning of a clip is exactly at an I frame, the length of the final output is correct. Weird...

I have no idea what can cause this. I tried to play a bit with the settings in Restream with no success. Maybe some stream manipulator to use on the final muxed video? Or some other programs that I cut and mux with?

If anyone could help...
