HD Benchmarking?

I'd like to include a H264 benchmark along with a slew of other tests I'm running on a couple of systems I've set up, anyone have any recommendations on what I could use?

It is a bit hard to recommend anything without more details. What do you intend to benchmark (decoding, encoding, ...)? What source material do you use? How about platforms (Windows, Linux, OS X) and target players (generic VFW, MPlayer, VLC, QuickTime) if you benchmark decoding?
