Hi all

I have created a DVD from footage I filmed for my mates wedding, and have found all the guides on here indispensable. I now have only one problem, the text on my menus is appearing off screen. I'll briefly outline how I created the menus below to give you an idea of how I have got hte project working and hopefully someone can advise me if I have done this completely the wrong way or how to fix it

I have created a series of jpg images in fireworks and have added these in as a slide show in order that each image is displayed for 5 seconds before proceeding to the next. These images all transition ok on any screen. I have created a subpicture with just text on that acts as the menu selections (I draw buttons around the text) and have this as forced start. When I play this through WinDVD all text is in the correct place, however when I play it on a DVD player the menu text is in the wrong place. If I do a simulation on scenarist's menu editor and put it into letterbox mode the images resize ok, but the subpicture does not. Do I need to create another subpicture and set that as the letterbox picture, or can I set it to resize automatically?

Thanks

Chris

Subpictures do not resize at all, which is why there can be as many as three streams for a 16:9 video. Software players like WinDVD will usually select the widescreen display mode, which you said lines up correctly. But a DVD player connected to a standard (4:3) television has to use either auto-panscan or auto-letterboxed, and that requires different subpictures aligned for the mode.
You may be able to resize the subpictures before authoring to make the other stream, but usually resized lettering does not look good. Shrink the image vertically to 3/4 of original and add background color above and below (this is what happens to the video for auto-letterboxed). Or take the center 540 horizontal pixels and expand to 720 for auto-panscan.
