Sorry for asking a stupid question, but I can't find the answer anywhere.

I would like to play some rmvb files with WMP. So i got realmediasplitter.ax, and i need a RV decoder. Can i get it from the Helix Community site without installing RealPlayer? I downloaded "RealVideo 10 'Elysian'" which contains RV40.dll, is this the decoder i need? If i try to register it, i get an error.

RealVideo 10 'Elysian' is encoder only. You need RealPlayer or an evil codec pack ;)

:(

Perhaps you could update the stickies with this info (ie that you need to install RealPlayer to get the decoders).

perhaps this will help _link removed_

Real Alternative will allow you to play RealMedia files. This way you can play RealMedia files without having to install RealPlayer, RealOne Player. Media Player Classic included.
Note: you don't have to install Media Player Classic

but "best" (if i don't want to use realplayer) is mplayer+decoder

May I add that codec packs including RealNetworks codecs are illegal? Posting them is against rule 6.

For the last time: do not post links to RealVideo decoder packs. They are illegal and considered warez. However, since this is not clear from my sticky, I will not issue strikes at this time. So, the next time someone posts such links, there will be a double strike issued. Rule #6 is a double strike rule.

EDIT: sticky updated with strict warning.
