Your version is a little bit old, Neuron2. I think robertdb should also read the Cor, PDAM and so on from http://www.itscj.ipsj.or.jp/sc29/ or by the ISO Standard. For DVB and DTV he should not read the 138181-1 he should read the ETSI Standard(http://pda.etsi.org/pda/queryform.asp) for DVB and the ATSC(as i see they have a new layaout :sly: ) Standard(http://www.atsc.org/standards.html) for DTV.
Both are free(now).

When a copy of H.222.0 is good for you then have a look at:
http://dbr.library.ncnu.edu.tw/itu-t/Index.htm
click there on the H-Series Link and on the following site is a H.222.0 Version from 2000.

Thanks a lot for the answers.
I haven't visited all the links yet.
I have spent quite some time reading the MPEG-2 Systems Specification, ITU H.222.0, ISO 13818-1, or however you want to call it and I find it really difficult to understand. It is not a surprise, in the past I already had a hard time reading other standards of the same kind. I wonder if there is some reason for making standard documents so hard to read and so difficult to understand.
I found this document which is a good introduction to the topic:
"MPEG-2: Overview of the systems layer"
www.bbc.co.uk/rd/pubs/reports/1996-02.pdf
I also found that the amendments to the specification and the specification itself can be downloaded for free from http://www.itu.int/ebookshop and registering to receive free access to three recommendations.

I wonder if there is some reason for making standard documents so hard to read and so difficult to understand. After you understand the basics ideas, the standards themselves are not so intimidating. Don't forget that they must be very complete, precise, and unambiguous in order to allow for implementation of correct and robust encoders and decoders.
