is it normal to get a Chosen resolution larger than the source res?
my DVD is only 1.4 GBs, I ripped it via DVDDec, then load the IFO into the autoGK, I want a 700 AVI (Xvid) file, otherwise everythin' is Default
but I'm quite worried about the larger resolution?!!!

:logfile: ok ok here is it : :P:)

Wesmosis, I ran into the same question the other day. Read THIS POST (http://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=704628&postcount=4) towards the bottom.

Notice your "compressibility percentage is 178.04". You can knock your target size down quite a bit and still be at 100%.

O'righty, but man there is alot of techincal stuff in that post!
plz in a simple words, what does this mean? how does affect my final 700 AVI?
quality? playablilty?
what should I do? just leave it , or should I reduce the size to for instance 350 MBs or encode it in the (Target Quality 75%) in order to get rid of all this fuss? :)

Notice your "compressibility percentage is 178.04". You can knock your target size down quite a bit and still be at 100%.

but here
Predicted comptest value is: 78.44
is it ok now?

But the compression test showed that, the maximum size it could get to was 369MB. So AGK determined that it could do things to improve the image quality that sacrifice compressibility -- it uses a sharper quantization matrix, turns off Bidirectional encoding (B-frames), and increased vertical resolution to meet AR requirements, rather than decreasing horizontal resolution. It predicts that with these changes, at maximum, it could reach approximately 842MB; 78% of that is the 657 you asked for.

Best practice for multipass MPEG-4 ASP encoding is approximately in the 60-80% of maximum; AGK may use different min and max values but 78% is certainly reasonable.

Wow! you bin a great heeeeeeeelp man!
thanx alot, and I'll stick to the 78% :)
