Hello, i am a very newbie. I have downloaded dvd shrink 3.2 and dvd decryptor...for windows xp home edition...here's my dilemina...
1)after i decrypt the movie and put on hard drive, its really huge...so....
2)my next step was to zip the decrypt movie....this i did
3)the next step burn zip movie...

THE ERROR MESSAGE I RECEIVED 35 MINUTES INTO THE BURNING PROCESS WAS.....'YOU DONT HAVE ENOUGH SPACE ON THE DVD RW FOR THIS ENTIRE MOVIE.

HERE IS BIGGEST PROBLEM
1)which part of the decrypt movie shall i zip???
a. the vob files
b. the bup files
c. the ifo files

2)which compresson rate shall i zip it to?How small can i zip it and get it to fit onto ONE dvd???

3)AND THIS IS THE LAST QUESTION...
Can anybody give me a step by step HOW TO BURN DVD'S IN SIMPLE NO NONESENSE FORMAT?

I am not very computer 'whiz kid', so please, bear with me...this is TERRIBLE HARD for me to figure out...BTW...i have purchased dvdx platitum se AND video vault. No instructions on 'how to' came with it...i downloaded it. THANK YOU ALL, sorry this is so long.

goregirl, you're going to have to do some reading and learning - there is no "step-by-step" guide to DVD Shrink, as each project will be somewhat different due to many variables. There are guides on the main Doom9.org page for both these programs which contain everything you need to know. I personally prefer CloneDVD, but it's not free.

Regarding your problem above, you shouldn't zip the movie at all. If you wanted to burn a copy to work on a standalone player, you need the decrypted files in their original state. If the DVD is a dual-layer (or DVD-9) it will be a huge amount of data, and it's unlikely you can even compress it enough with WinZip to fit on a DVD-ROM.

You're right, this is confusing at first, but it can be done.

hi goregirl and welcome to the forum!

i took the liberty of splitting your post and CWR03's reply from the thread you posted in, as your question was unrelated to the topic being discussed. this is generally known as 'hijacking' a thread and is not viewed as good 'netiquette'.

anyway, i suggest that you read through some of the guides avaliable at doom9, starting with:
DVD Basics (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/dvd-basics.htm)
in particular:
DVD Structure (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/dvd-structure.htm)

then try your hand at doom9's DVD Shrink guide:
DVD Shrink 3.2 guide (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dvdshrink31-main.htm)

try it out and let us know how you get on.

cheers

Thank you both SO much, jel and CWR03. I didn't mean to hack my way into another post. There were so many post, its all confusing about where to put a newbie post.
I really appreciate your help, though.
First things first, yes this is really complicated....I wish I was 'a better dvd burner installer' than all of you.
Second, I will read shrink guide available, again thank you both so much, and I am so sorry to have posted in the wrong area.
