May be a little out of topic, but I need some help from guru. I have a PowerBook and use it in college network. The network have a firewall with http proxy. I need my user name and pin number to access the net. That's all right. But in order to use the Google talk with iChat, I need to open the port 5223. I found some info about how to use ProxyTunnel to do that, but it's all about dealing with commands and terminal, not so good for a new baby. Please, can somebody give me a hand about it? Explain the whole process detailed to me? Thanks million. :thanks:

How about just asking your network administrator to open port 5223 for you?

i highly doubt that port is blocked by your uni (simple test is get someone else to port
scan you be it a friend or one of the many websites like pc pit-stop OR try and port scan
someone else you know to be behind the uni firewall/routers) Anyway, more likely you
have your OSX firewall on and not letting anything in on that port. a simple test is to
turn off your firewall in OSX and see if Google talk works with ichat. If so turn it back
on and then add port 5223 to your ichat allow list. Then that port will ONLY OPEN when
ichat is running.
As for Tunneling. Don't go that route until you do the basic tests first.
