Im trying to back up E.T and what ive always done is used vobblanker to blank the extras and used dvd shrink to shrink/remove audio/keep menus.
if i use vobblanker before dvd-rb i get a m2v error (blank frame error? i guess) how can i do this with dvd-rb? or should i use a differnt program altogether?

@hummus19
You could make a $10 donation for the Pro version and do this all within one program... :D
Using DVD Shrink, you can leave everything you wish to keep at "no compression," and replace removed features with a still frame (the one that reads, "the video has been removed"). Then you can run your Shrink-created files through Rebuilder to take advantage of the better quality it gives. This way -- if you choose to -- you can also shrink down the menus with DVD Shrink, saving even more space. I've never had Rebuilder complain about Shrink-generated files.

[Qoute] "so you can "remove" extras in the pro version?"
You betcha. All you have to do is run a "prepare" stage on your project. Once done, there's a preview screen that will allow you to view all availible VTS streams. Don't want what you see? You can either remove them entirely or make a slide show out of them with a couple of mouse clicks. What you don't want, Rebuilder blanks out and gives the extra bitrate to your movie (it even tells you within the preview screen what your existing bitrate is for the movie, and adjusts it as you remove features).
You also have many, many features with Pro that you don't have with the freeware. Sure, you can always leave everything at default and still get great results, but you also have the ability to chose certain encoding matrices (for low to ultra-low bitrates), and keep in mind multi-angle disks are completely processed; while the freeware does let you copy multi-angle projects, all the angles are meerly copied over at original quality -- eating up massive amounts of disk space. Pro re-compresses them to allow for quality that matches the rest of your project.
I think you'll agree it's worth the money.

If all you want is the main movie and your choice of audio/subtitles, and don't have the pro version of DVD-RB, do what I do when I also want to change the start/end frames of the movie
Run DVD Shrink in reauthor mode, then choose the audio/subtitles to keep, change the start/end frames if you wish, then chnage the compression ratio to 'no compression' ignore the warnings and save the output as files and run DVD-RB on those
