yes, MONO "only"

i've tried HE-AAC @ 64k with Downmix to mono (nero encoder), but the file size is the same as default stereo.

i wanna have a lower file size, is it posible?

i dont care about the codec, but i guess both vorbis and AAC are the best option....

suggestions?, thanks :thanks:

If you chose 64 Kb/s this determine the filesize (mono, stereo or multichannel).
Try with lower bitrate.

Winmedia audio voice 9 or winmedia audio 9.1 pro at lower bitrates offers mono.

Hmmm, that must be a bug with Nero that it thinks 64k=64k. :p

Nero allows you to choose bitrates down to 16K for stereo HE-AAC.

i thought that 64kbps in Mono should be better audio quality (than 96kbps in stereo...)

in general mono audio files are smaller in size (or is it only for .WAV?)

i want to have a great quality (near cd quality) at low bitrates, so i think 1 channel audio files would help, as i have several audio sources in mono....

tebasuna51 is right, 64 Kb/s determine the filesize.

well, i dont know how to encode them propertly

i mean, a 48kbps mono he-aac file is equal to a 64kbps stereo he-aac, in sound quality (despite the stereo output, think u have only 1 spekear)?? (more or less the bitrate)

:D

Try AACPlus v2. You can use PS to keep stereo :)

i would also say that its possible to get better quality at a lower bitrate by going with mono (eg for a dvd commentary stream, or a second language you hardly use), but of course you loose the stereo info
but it needs to be tested how much you can save by doing this, definitely not half of the bitrate

ps-aac would indeed be a good solution for using mono, but with additional stereo info
