I'm sad to report that I'm still unable to untick the "no compression need",under Options. It can be disabled in the ini file.

I'm not sure I understand. You "untick" it by selecting an encoder. "No Compression" is treated like an encoder choice.

You are selecting "No Compression" as your encoder choice. It would seem odd to me to select an encoder, and then also select/deselect "No Compression" separately -- because it would give you the false impression that the encoder would somehow be involved.

Sorry I meant under "mode". Once I have ticked that option "no compression 100% video", it can't be unselected for a different backup, even if I close it down and reopen it, the option stays enabled. But it can be disabled in the ini file in dvd-rb directory
