Hi.

My goal is to create an mpeg-1 file from DVD. I tried using HC, QuEnc, and TMPGEnc and had issues with each program.

In HC I caouldn't find a way to conver to mpeg-1, only mpeg-2.

QuEnc produces a file that Windows Media player thinks is 1:34 min in length, however the file plays the entire 6:10 min that it is supposed to be. THe bigger problem is that the file has no sound. The input file is an avs file that I got after running Gordian Knot.

TMPGEnc has a similar problem.

Please recommend the most straightforward way to get an mpeg-1 file from a DVD.

Thank you.

I've been having similar problems and am looking for a way to get quality mpeg1 from dvd.

So far, all of the (free) software has ended up in sound that doesn't synch properly. I had a sweet program that did conversions in just a few minutes, but in editing later the sound would not synch properly. Is there a tool to synch the sound if it is off?

Since then I purchased avs video conversion (www.avsmedia.com, which works, but takes a long long time. The final quality is quite artifacted, but may have to do with my conversion settings (have to reduce to 320 x 240).
