he-aac 5.1 playback

Whenever I play a file that has 5.1 audio, it seems like only the back two speakers of 5.1 play off of my stereo speakers making the audio very quiet throughout most of the file. Is there any way that I can use filter settings to play the 5.1 audio off of stereo speakers?

Can you provide a bit more information about your equipment please?

How you are connecting from PC to your speakers.... Are you using an external amplifier? And what software player you are using?

I'm using a laptop (hp dv1000). The speakers come out the front. My laptop looks exactly like the one in this picture: http://laptopmag.com/images/features/gearYear/HP-dv1000.jpg

When I plug in headphones into the headphone jack there are still volume problems.

I'm using the latest version of Zoom Player

Note: this problem does not happen on my PC with stereo speakers mounted on the monitor
