Hi, I have unlead videostudio and I can't figure out how can I edit a video.

I make all the editing stuff and I want to save the video as a mpeg (original file) but it only let me save as a projec.

How can I solve this

Thanks

You'll need to export the video to the desired format - it should be in the File menu.

and exporting a video to the same format keeps the quality or loses it?

thanks

It re-encodes it. Unless you select a custom AVI with a lossless codec such as HuffYUV, some quality will be lost. MPEGs and DV are lossy compression technologies.

Ulead VideoStudio will allow you to create finished product -- what they term as "sharing" your edited work -- several ways: Authoring and burning a DVD, an SVCD, or a VCD Creating an A/V file in .avi or .wmv format Recording to a DV recorder via Firewire.Take a look at the options in the rightmost tabs.

thanks...I just make it...

however, when I save in the same format (PAL mpeg 24 frames 700*400)

the filme become bigger and not smaller, and that is stange because i cut parts of the movie.

Thanks

It appears to me that there are different video bitrates in your source and destination. Audio encoding may also be a factor.

the file as this configurations:
the original file
Video:
MPEG-1
24 bits 720 x 576, 25 fps
4:3
frame rate:25.000 frames/sec
data rate: 1800 kbps

Audio
44100 hz, 16 Bit, Stereo

Bit rate 224 kbps

The future file

MPEG files
24 Bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Frame-based
(MPEG-2), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 6000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 224 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz,

PAL MPEG2 (720x576 ,25 fps)

I thinks it's the mpeg2...

Your video output bitrate is variable, but may be up to 3.33 times your input video bitrate. This is the reason your output is larger. (You've stated that the input file is 1800 kilobits per second, the output, up to 6000 kilobits per second.)

While it is the bitrate difference that impacts your file size -- let me also point out that your input is MPEG-1, your output is MPEG-2. These are both MPEG compression technologies, but they are not the same.

There are other programs available that will edit a video without re-rendering, although I'm not sure with MPEG-1. According to your data, your final product is MPEG-2 and also shows a much higher bitrate than your source so naturally it will be bigger.

and exporting a video to the same format keeps the quality or loses it?

thanks

"Exporting" means it will be re-rendered, whether or not you use the same settings or format as the source video. HuffYUV will create an immense file at your given resolution, so it's probably not an option unless you're authoring a production DVD. Other than using a lossless codec, you will always lose quality when re-rendering, but it can be minimal.
