jarko, a .srt file = .txt file. If you want to change font in Notepad, click the format button -- if you want to change it in sub creation program, use that program or tell someone what you're using.

I have standalone Divx player. I want to play .avi files with subtitles. To make able this I have to join Subs. with .avi files. Where I did this always Subs are very small on Tv.
I need to make this fonts bigger. I put together .avi and subtitles in virtualDub. I checked links which you gave me but really didn't help in my situation. I made this moviename.srt.style file but I don't know it'll help :( .

Try Text Sub filter from Gabest in V/Dub?
Result looks huge to me :)

I'm using Vobsub 2.23 downloaded from Doom9. In the add filter dialog of VirtualDub I add Textsub 2.23. Dialog appears to open .srt file. Click on the Styles button. New window opens. Click on the Font name. There I can select font to use, size, etc...

I think you cannot do this for standalone player. Maybe if you are using .srt as external subtitle file there is a setting in the player menu to adjust the font size, which I doubt very much. The problem is that .srt doesn't contain any information about the fonts. Well, maybe some tag usage, not sure it will work.
I think the best approach is to use image based subtitles. If your player supports .idx/.sub files you can use SubRip to convert. If not, maybe the best is to convert with srt2bmp to images and to mux with Fuse to a .divx file.
Well, the last is to reencode the file with permanent subtitles. It is not good IMO.
P.S. To join - I understand as to multiplex (for example the audio is multiplexed, so one can multiplex also subltitle stream.)

Just info really, Textsub filter in V/Dub adds permanent subs, creates new video... This wasn't stated (that I see) in thread so far, so easy to miss if you've never used it.

Yes,yes I know, my remark was in sense that the video quality will be not so good , but the subs will be perfect. :)

Hello!
Sorry for bringing this old thread form the dead :)
I want to burn in sub/srt subtitles into avi using Virtual Dub script.
I tried TextSub 2.23 but I couldn't find how to change styles via script.
What's the easiest way for doing this?

thanks!

Use the ".style" file along with the original ".srt" file.
It's better than using the Subrip extended format and much easier to implement (not to mention the subrip extended is not recognized by several apps around).

Instructions on how to create the ".style" file can be found here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1001647#post1001647).

If you are really considering more advanced subtitle options (or two styles in one subtitle), I would advise you to use the Substation Alpha (SSA), or the improved version of it - Advanced Substation Alpha (ASS).
