Simply enough I was trying to convert my .ac3 audio file ripped from the DVD to mp3. Everytime I try I receive this error:

The CODEC required to decompress 'E:\KingsTail_track.ac3' could not be opened.
Unable to insert SampleGrabber.

No other errors. Any ideas or alternative applications? Just wanted something really simple to convert my ac3 files. Thanks alot.

JiiSune, I've been using dBpowerAMP for awhile now to convert MP3s, FLAC and APE files to WAV. I love its integration with Windows Explorer-- just right click and choose Convert. I checked the dBpowerAMP web site and for AC3 support, it has a codec for Directshow filters. That should include AC3Filter. So if you install both the Directshow code and the AC3Filter, it should work.

You might also consider using Foobar2000 to convert AC3 to MP3, AAC, WMA etc....

BeSweet has a really good and upto date Gui now, check it out. BeLight its called, just look in this forum for it.

There are also pleanty of guides on how to convert AC3 in the guides section of Doom9 if you get stumped.

I've installed both packs for dBpowerAMP but strangely it still won't work, always gives the same error! Oh well I'll give BeSweet a chance. Thank you everyone for your replies.
