Oi,

I've encoded a couple of video samples with different codecs (Snow, Dirac, Theora, x264, MPEG2,...)

System: Intel Celeron 1.2 GHz, 224 Mb Ram (32 Mb Video), 10 Gb HD

I know it's not an ideal encoding system, but it was my intention to test the codecs on a less powerfull system.

I noticed some codecs take full processor power and other take full memory capacity. Can anyone explain why using the one codec, RAM is a bottleneck and others CPU is a bottleneck???

Thx

Do you use avisynth?

Yes, I did. Does it matter? To do the decoding (not using AviSynth), I came to the same conclusion, so what's your point?

I'm sure AviSynth asks more of my machine, but not all codecs accept raw yuv input.
