selecting between wide screen and full screen for main movie

Hi, I did a search but couldn't find a clear answer. I want to do a main movie only backup. The full screen version is bigger so it gets selected as the main movie is there a simply way to force the selection of the wide screen version.
I can use shrink or recode, but I was curious if it can be done in one step with dvd-rb

movie only defualts to the largest. Only way would be blank fullscreen first, then run it.
