View Full Version : Weird issues with ripped DVD5, please help

Hey,

I ripped a DVD (the source is only DVD5) via DVDshrink (So I think as long as it's DVD5, it won't reencode anything, just rip) and then I went on and with IFOedit I made my DVD region free and removed user restrictions in the VIDEO_TS.ifo (I hope it's right to do it this way).

So, as I didn't need to rip anything out in order to make it fit on a single layer DVD-R, I was already done.

With imgtool, I wanted to make an iso out of my rip. So then I mounted the image in Daemon Tools and tried to play it with WinDVD and PowerDVD - however, both show me their region selection screen when they try to play it. And the weird thing is, selecting a region won't help, WinDVD continuously comes up with the region selection, while PowerDVD only shows it once, but doesn't start playing when selecting a region either.

But, when I play the movie from the directory structure, it plays fine in both programs. This directory is the source for the image file for imgtool, so I guess imgtool does something wrong? Maybe someone can help me out there, I'm completely confused...

thanks in advance.

Sounds like you had a similar problem I had. Check this thread, it may be of some help.
