Nero Recode especially when using "Extra Quality" Mode looks stunning. But I find myself unable to really use it due to the Low audio problem. Now there is workaround's on my Laptop I can use FFDSHOW to boost the audio. But on my portable devices the audio is just barely audible. I've used Nero's registry patches but there's no getting around the audio portion of the encode is just terrible. I wonder if Nero will ever adress this?

I am new to Nerodigital but certainly like it so far. It is very easy to transfer a movie to Nerodigital unlike Divx (for a newbie like myself).

However, I have also noticed that the audio is very quiet. I have emailed Ahead to ask them about this. Any news on why this is happening?

Maybe ffdshow has troubles decoding. Does it play right in ShowTime?

The files play Ok in Showtime but the audio is very quiet. I have to turn my Hifi upto about volume 20 (which is loud!) to get a reasonable sound.

Do you use normalization prior encoding?

I don't think so!

I just let Nerorecode convert the DVD to NeroDigital. I use the standard configuration that Recode opens with. I don't change any settings.

This issue has been reported many times by many different forum members!

Thanks

I had a read but it is a bit beyond me. I will test the files on a portable player when I get one. If they are too quiet I may try Xvid instead. Maybe by that time, Nero will have an updated version which solves the problem?

please can anyone tell me how to write an .avs script so that it can be used in nero recode 2, and also how to include audio source in that script itself, and how to normalize ac3 audio prior to encoding? i am referring to dvd source!

Could your problem be normal (full) dynamic range on original ac3? If originally mixed for theaters, audio will have explosive peaks and sometimes whisper quiet dialog. If so, one method would be to use DGIndex to demux, decode, and compress the dynamic range, giving you a wav file you could input to Nero Recode.
