I have a very weird error with The Life Aquatic. Whenever I'm watching it with Dolby 5.1 it plays perfectly, however whenever I switch it to DTS the video becomes very choppy. The original disc plays fine on both Dolby and DTS. I've never seen anything like this before. I've done the backup 4 times on different computers with RC 4.1 and CCE SP 2.70.02. I know it's not necessary to have DTS, but this is still a problem probobly worth looking at. Thanks.

Edit: No preprocessing either.

sounds like it is exceeding the max bitrate, which is odd. do you have a bitrate viewer?

are you playing on standalone or pc

This is playing on a standalone player. Never tried to analyze the bitrate before.

I've had this happen with die hard with a vengeance r1, long time ago though figured it was fixed when the dropouts where fixed so I never mentioned it.

I did this a while back with DVD-RB and kept both DD and DTS tracks. It played back fine using DTS audio. Does it play fine on the computer using a software player? Have you tried other standalone players? Are you using quality media?

I'm using Fuji branded Taiyo Yuden media. I haven't tried switching audio around on the PC yet; I'm at work so won't be able to for a bit. I haven't tried it on other players since I only have one hooked up that can process DTS audio. I may switch some players around and see if that helps.

It has to be a bitrate problem... I'll go back and check the routines that set maximum bitrate for video based upon audio usage.

My own personal belief it that DTS is just too much bandwidth for audio tracks, and I never personally keep it. But opinions are like rectums, everybody has one and nobody cares about anybody else's. :D

OT. That's not completly right... and you know it lol... the last time I knew about it... everytime anyone counts... the number is bigger... lucky for "straight" ones lol
as Seinfeld would say:
"Not that there's anything wrong with it!!! " :D
