I've a vobsub file with subtitles on index 0 and index 4. No subtitles on the indices in between. I want to move/reindex these subtitles to the indices 0 and 1 (because my stand-alone player doesn't get it right). I tried the Vobsub tools, but I can't find out how to do it.
btw, I just tried changing the index in the idx file, but that doesn't work.
thanks,

Haven't used vobsub all that much -- hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in if there's a simpler way.
Going over the vobsub docs, found: "It is only a stripped vob containing only the subtitle related blocks.". Assuming you're stuck with the subs at 0 & 4, how about demuxing & removing sub at 4 and remuxing at 2 using ifoedit, rejug, or similar?

The original DVD didn't have the desired subtitles, so I got them from somewhere else. Hence, I can't use IfoEdit.
If I could rip one of the subtitles to a new Vobsub, I would also be happy (don't want to use Subrip to make srt's, too much work).
Any ideas for other tools that might do the job?

It'd be much easier to just use PGCEdit and redo the mapping as you've specified. It'll take you a bit to learn PGCEdit, but I kid you not that as an experienced PGCEdit user, I could do what you just said in about 1 minute.
Since I probably won't see any new responses in the thread, I'll just tell you basically here how to do it. Once you load the DVD, double-click on the main movie PGC. When you get PGC details, in the subtitle section you'll probably see something like...
0 0 0 0 0
1 - - - - (not set)
2 - - - - (not set)
3 - - - - (not set)
4 0 4 4 0
you can either set 1 to the values 4 has ("0 4 4 0" in my example) and set 4 to "not set", or just leave 4 alone and set all the ones in the middle to the same values as either index 0 or index 4 (as desired). Good luck (feel free to PM me if you get stuck).
