Is there somewhere out there which explains how to use Nandub's filters other than resize and VobSub? Filters for noise reduction and stuff like that are always being mentioned in the forum but I've never seen any advice on how/when to use them.

Time for another guide perhaps? :)

First read the help file (under the menu item HELP). You will find a complete reference to all internal filters under the section reference->filters. If you still have any questions post them in the VirtualDub forum.

Hi darkWhite,

Try the pages at nickys guides ->
www.digital-digest.com
for a fairly brief run thru of some virtual
dub filter features...

I dont know alot about using filters but
thats a start. i'm finding it really hard to find
any n00b related sites about using
filters for cleaning source video in
virtualdub - so if anybody else can provide
some more sites it really would be appreciated

thanx in advance :))

Check out my site:
http://web.syr.edu/~tjmyers/animefilters.html
It explains how to get rid of crappy noise.

I've since then realized the settings quoted on there are a little too extreme and smooth out the beautiful background of anime and are WAY too high for movie textures.

For real movies use a setting of like 3 or 5 diameter and 15-20 strength. For anime pump it up to 5-7 diameter and 20-25 STR. Also I use warpsharp at a setting of 40 for anime, I would not suggest using it for a movie.

Like always... there is NOT JUST ONE GOOD OVERALL SETTING! You must look at what the filter does and decide for yourself what looks good, what doesn't what can I change, how does this filter work, what if I do this, etc?

If you're looking for Warpsharp, then go here (http://sauron.mordor.net/dgraft/index.html), and then click on "Other Filters And Tools". Some of those pages give information on how to use the filters.
