Hi, My problem is like those I read when looking through the history, I join two srt files together through subtitleworkshop, but when the film has been converted it only has subs on the first half of the film. I now know that the problem is to Recalculate time values, but how?
Cant seem to find anyone explaining in easy terms how to do this, if someone could please guide me to a link showing me how to do this I would be very grateful.

cheers

Let's check if you do it properly
tools, join subtitles, load part 1 then part 2, after that, click join!, give it a filename(different from the other 2), check output

You can use Vobsub resync, which is included in vobsub installer. Open your 1st sub by specifying its frame rate, then whem it's loaded, drag and drop the 2nd one, a menu will appear , in which you can also specify the framerate, and check the option "append" to add it at the end of the 1st.

Then in vobsub resync you can easily correct the timecode, save the sub, try to play it immediately with MPC to see if the timing is correct, and add other changes in subresync if needed.

@stedhew

Try joining the srt files, then importing into Subtitle Workshop. Then use the built-in video preview to correct the delay after the join. The help files explain it, & the only hint I can add is to have backup copies of your srt files as the dialog for adding delay to all subs after a certain point can be confusing (has a number of choices).

Subtitle tool will allow you to append srt files.

Personally I've used two methods, the easiest when authoring or re-authoring seems to be DVDA, as subs appear on a separate track -- find the first sub at the join, and drag it where you want, those subs to the right of it move as needed. Same sort of thing as Subtitle Workshop, but I think easier.

The 2nd way I've done it involves a bit of trial & error, but works... Knowing what the 1st sub of the 2nd file says, find the portion of the video you want (in whatever player), where the 2nd srt starts, then step through it to get a fairly accurate timestamp. Use that when you join the files.
