View Full Version : Create WideScreen DVD with Adobe Encore

Hello,

I thought I was going about this the right way, but maybe not. I've got the final product created in my video editor (Vegas). I'm saving it so I can import it into Adobe Encore. The footage was shot in 16:9, but I was going to modify the pixel aspect ratio in encore.

I export my footage to mpeg2, expecting when I import it into encore I'll be able to modify the pixel aspect ratio. I can't seem to do this, both options to perform this are grayed out. (options being "interpret footage" in the project menu and "aspect ratio" in a timeline's properties).

However, if I scratch the mpeg2, I can export to avi in vegas and modify this just fine in encore. Am I missing something here?, do I need to do something special to be able to adjust the pixel aspect ratio in adobe encore to 1.2? These options are grayed out and I can't seem to understand why.

Thanks,
--Michael

mpeg-2 doesn't have a pixel aspect ratio, this is why the option is greyed out. What mpeg-2 and DVD both have is DAR, the Display Aspect Ratio, and that should be 16:9 for widescreen. Also the only resolutions which are allowed to use 16:9 in DVD are 720x480 or 704x480 for NTSC (720x576 or 704x576 for PAL)

Ok, this makes more sense to me now. I'm learning all this as I go, so every bit helps.

I'm remaking the mpeg2 taking this into consideration. In vegas movie studio I believe this involves selecting a widescreen format and "stretching" the video to fill the output frame. Seems to do the trick! Thanks for the help! I appreciate it!
