whenever I re-author thru 'shrink' utility, any subtitles that I have included, will be turned ON [as default] when played w/standalone player. I can play same title thru PC [power-dvd] & subtitles are OFF; but when played thru any standalone player... I have 3 players... the subtitles are ON as default..?? I have changed the "pre-command" to OFF w/ifo-edit... but the player just plays the NEXT subtitle..!! If the movie has 5 subtitles... I must turn EACH ONE off, before the subtitles will not display.

I realize SHRINK has the option to remove these... but there are times I WANT TO KEEP the subtitle[s]... I just don't want them to display as default. Seems like there should be an easier way to do this, than re-authoring thru ifo-edit each time..??

thankx for any help.... Rob

Well, re-authoring is not neccessary. You should be able to turn them off via the SetSTN pre-command.

This can be done using r0lZ' superb freeware DVD editing tool, PgcEdit.

There's a guide for it here (http://www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/third_party/2cool/subtitles/subtitles_off_default_pgcedit.htm), by 2COOL.
