Hi.
1. I found out the hard way that mp4 possibly doesn't work in XCD mode. There's one 800 MB mp4 movie file which I have made from an XviD encode of one of my DVDs. This I've processed through m2cdmaker and wrote in mode 2 with Nero. Wrote well, without incident, but the same players that played the file from the hard disk without complaining now balk at the prospect of having to play it from the XCD. Any suggestions?
2. And while we're at it, can you please tell me how to view this mp4 file information like we can view the File Info in VDub for avi files?
3. mp4edit is a GUI program that can cut/join mp4 files, I found out from Mr Bond's worthy FAQ. It is not available for download currently. QuickTime Pro is another program capable of doing this, but it isn't a freeware. Any suggestions?
Thanks very much, and regards.

mp4box -i yourfile.mp4 is also an option. mp4box can also cut and join. YAMB (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=93927) is an mp4box GUI for the commandline impaired.

Thanks, azsd. Thanks, Doom9. I'll download MediaInfoGUI (http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=392&s=241) and YAMB (http://www.unite-video.com/phpbb/download.php?id=1775) presently. Right now Kurtnoise13's download link doesn't seem to work for me. A tool that Doom9 himself recommends, though, ought to feature in the Download Page. [Another important one that doesn't: MeGUI].
Regards.

Right now Kurtnoise13's download link doesn't seem to work for me.
Sorry, there are some restrictions for some countries. Try this link (http://kurtnoise.free.fr/Yamb/)...:)
In addition, I'd suggest you to read the great Alexnoe's sticky (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=63047).

Thanks, Mr Bond. Thank you, kurtnoise13.
The Haalis Media Splitter page (http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/) has a Download link for Matroska Splitter (http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/MatroskaSplitter.exe). I assume it is the Haali Splitter. After installation, the installation folder contains only one .exe (Uninstall.exe), and 3 dll files with a splitter.ax. It doesn't show up in the "File>(right-click)>Open with>Choose program" system dialog box. Sorry for being such a bluenose; how do I play my mp4 in the XCD disc in Haali Media Splitter?
Alex in his XCD sticky says that support of mp4 in XCDs is no problem ordinarily. That's what I believed, too, and playing of XCDs has never been an issue for my avi files. I am really surprised that my mp4 doesn't play in XCD:
QuickTime says the file lacks a moov atom,
MPC finds an unknown file type,
VLC Player waits interminably in the hope of eventually playing it,
BSPlayer plainly admits: 'can't open file'.
WMPlayer plays the file, but without audio.
Downloading of Yamb 1.2.1 (http://kurtnoise.free.fr/Yamb/installer/Yamb-1.2.1.exe) was uneventful this time.
Regards.

try playing the xcd in any dshow player, you will see if the haali splitter is used when there is an icon of the splitter showing up in the taskbar
of course you have to enable mp4 support too when installing
