View Full Version : Error Message "Cannot create project file .d2v"

I am using DVD2SVCD ver 1.2.2 build 3 and get the error message that the project file cannot be created after I do the frame selection. I choose only 2 ranges at about the midpoint of the movie to create 2 files about 45 minutes each. But the log shows three ranges selected--the correct first range and the second range repeated twice.

The program continues successfully all the way through conversion to bin/cue files but the video for disc 1 continues to fill the entire disc well past the cut point while the audio stops appropriately at the cut point. The file for disc 2 picks up where the video left off for disc 1 but still has the audio begin from the proper cut point. I had this happen once before but was able to edit the encoded video files and mux them with the already correct audio files, create a bin/cue, then burn the VCD.

But the problem with this DVD is that not only are the video and audio out of synch but the subtitles are as well--and they're not in synch with the audio or the video.

I read about problems with this program if using external ripping and while antivirus software is running. Turning off the AV software did not fix the problem, and the internal ripper stalls while "analyzing the video."

I tried using FlaskMPEG to create a file with correctly synched audio, video, and subtitles that I could then split, create a bin/cue, and then burn, but I get an error message that "The video stream could not be searched" after 75% completion of sequence headers. The video encoding had finished before this error message, so I was left with an .m2v video only file that has synched subtitles and contains the whole movie, but is only 35 minutes long while the original DVD is 1hr 40min. Using TMEGnc merge and cut MPEG tool with this file yields one 15 min mpeg file and one 2hr 45min mpeg file even though the cut point was exactly in the middle of the .m2v file. :(

I seem to be stuck.

1) Is anyone familiar with the "cannot create project file" error message in DVD2SVCD, why I might be getting it, or what to do to fix it?

or

2) Or can anyone help me get from what I guess is a compressed video file (the .m2v) --since its shorter but still has the whole movie-- to an mpeg of proper length that I can mux with the audio files I have?

Thanks for your help ;)

"...but I get an error message that "The video stream could not be searched" after 75% completion of sequence headers. ..."

That tells me your AVI has internal problems, until you fix them you will continue to have problems. Have you checked them with DivxRepair and DivFIX ?
