Hello,

I have been reading about heat issues and cpu throttling (http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/p4-throttling/) with p4 Prescott and Northridge. And the fact that encoding is what will cause this, ( heavy cpu usage). Now I’m on the verge of a new pc purchase and want to be safe. Is there a way to keep the system cool? I know that there are safety features and an auto shut down, but to me that’s just a band-aid.

Just be sure to buy a case with decent airflow, a few extra case fans, and a good CPU heatsink/fan if you think the one that comes with the processor isn't good enough.

i heard oem hsf weren't never that good to been with, maybe for the average pc user, but not if you're going to push your cpu as hard as possible; try some arctic silver 5 on your pc

Get a watercooling system. You'll never have to worry again about cpu temperatures. If you're watercooling northbridge, cpu and gpu with the radiator outside the case then you'll also significantly lower the temperature inside the case (=better for the rest of your hardware, too!)
