View Full Version : Can I use some functions of DVD2SVCD without having to run the whole program?

It is possible to just run the portions of the program after multiplexing i.e. the creation of bin/cue files and skip ripping, extracting, encoding, and muxing?

Here's the problem.

I had some problems with the output for one particular DVD that I am backing up. DVD2SVCD cuts the audio properly between disc 1 and 2 but allows the video to run for the length of disc 1. Disc 2 has the proper audio paired with the last few minutes of the movie.

I read about synch issues if virus scanners were turned on and the recommendation to use internal routines for ripping. I couldn't rip internally because the program stalls while trying to "analyze the video."

So I did a manual edit with TMpegnc using its MPEQ Cut and Merge Tool. I cut the merged the encoded video files created by DVD2SVCD to create two new mpegs with the break at the proper frame. I then used the multiplex function of TMpegnc to mux the new video mpegs with the audio files created by DVD2SVCD which needed no editing. Everything seems to be in synch on playback.

Here's where I'm stalled. I don't know how to write the command lines to make VCDXBuild create a bin/cue file from the muxed files I created. DVD2SVCD usually analyzes the file, creates an xml file, and then launches VCDXBuild. I don't know how to do this manually. I looked at the xml files created by DVD2SVCD to see if I could tweak them but its definitely over my head.

Which leads me to my question. Can I run DVD2SVCD and only have it use my muxed files to create bin/cue files using VCDXBuild--ie skip ripping, extracting, encoding, and muxing?

I have a free version of VCDEasy but it only allows mpeg up to 200 MB.

Are there any other free downloads that will do the job I'm looking for?

Or is there an easy way to create a xml file for this project--a template maybe with fill-in-the-blanks for source files and output files? Sounds too good to be true.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

See your other thread which Trahald moved here.
It shows you how to get out of your fix.
However, if you make lots of SVCD's you'd probably find VCDEasy very useful.
I assume the version of VCDEasy you have is newer than v1.1.5.2 and hence the limitations.
1.1.5.2 one is the last version with free unlimited use.

Thanks again. I posted a reply to my other thread that was moved.

I used TSCV from the downloads page here, and it did the job :)

The link to the download of the older VCDEasy without mpeg size restrictions might be a good one to add to the downloads page of this site. I abandoned VCDEasy early on because of the size restriction and instead used DVD2SVCD to create bin/cue files which I burn to CD-R using BurnAtOnce--all free downloads from this site :)

So I just checked and the download link here IS for the older version of VCDEasy. I stand corrected.

Not sure where I downloaded my version. Not from this site I guess :)
