Splitting VCD/MPEG1 Problem

I have been using VDub to cut unnecesarry scenes out of various video files for some time now with no problem. It saves me alot of space on my limited HD. The problem I am having is this : when I try to cut a few scenes out of a MPEG1/VCD format file they end up being larger in size than the original. I dont know what is causing this or even how it is possible.

If you want to cut mpeg1 files use tmpgenc mpeg tools (File, mpeg tools).
