Is it possible for me to adjust the subtitle, like AutoGK does, via a filter or something? By the way does anyone know what AutoGK does this?

how do you hardcode subs into avi?

DVDs use separate sub tracks, which are overlaid on the video. Other formats (wmv for example) use a text file. For your average avi, some folks overlay subs while encoding... The new video has permanent (hard) subtitles - the subtitles are part of the video frames. Check the guides for how-to info.

I have checked the guides, but can't find anything about placing the subtitles.

Using Textsub 2.23 from VobSub 2.23 at doom9.org in VirtualDub...
1) add textsub 2.23 filter, choose sub file (.srt etc.) & open, click styles button, verify placement and set margins on lower right. :)

altough you wont get hardcoded subs(i only do hardcoded subs as a last resort) you can manipulate the position of the subs with srt2bmp available here at doom 9 in the divx forum

rip your subs with subrip or other to srt format, encode your video with autogk or AVI.net or other tool and then use srt2bmp to creat a xsub subtitle from the srt file and then use srt2bmp to mux it to the video. you will get a divx file with switchable subs playable on any divx ceritfied player.

about the position of the subs when creating the xsubs you're given the chgoice of where to put the subs on the video(you will se what i mean when you use srt2bmp)

xsubs format is compatible with any divx certified player by the way

you can also download srt subs from websites on the web just in case you get stuck with subrip

This kind of statement and, worse, links to other sites is not allowed in this forum. On the other hand, we are not responsible for what members write to each other by mail.
Please, keep this in mind :o
