Is anybody interested to try this free program (http://fever.link.free.fr/SUPER.html). I was amazed
by its simplicity in giving me terrific mov's and mp4's with H.264-AVC/AAC content.
The best part, it's damn free to encode them and play them.

Is that an ad or something?
I can't even get the .mp4 sample to play on my setup, I only got audio where MeGUI and Nero encodes work fine.

...I can't even get the .mp4 sample to play on my setup, I only got audio.....
I think, the answer to your question is written in red just above
the sample you downloaded from SUPER's site. I might be wrong..

SUPER © Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer.
A GUI to ffmpeg, mencoder, mplayer, ffmpeg2theora & the theora/vorbis RealProducer plugIn. seems to be a gui for all these tools

It sounds great from the homepage, however I have no time to try the program yet.
Suggestion:
Would it be better to make the title with more specific words, such as:
"SUPER © Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer"
rather than just a "Super" which has the first impression of an ads title.

Just 2 channel audio encoding. Don´t need this.

...
Never mind if I'm wrong ;) in the mean time I was able to play
the 2 samples (deep purple - smoke on the water) on my laptop
and on my Athlon x1800.
I do not use sophisticated players, i use the vlc.
I also encoded couple of clips on the laptop, takes a bit longer
than the Athlon but still great quality.

just tried this program and i must say nice ... although options are really at minimum so it's not usable - but for an quick (and dirty - mostly because there is no croping) encode it sure works
i tested mp4 cont with 3 samples (short vob clip as source) ... ffmpeg mpeg4, xvid mpeg4, and x254 avc ... files are playable in mplayer bsplayer (x264 not but i dont have latest ffdshow) and quick time (x264 not) ... audio was aac (works of course)
nice...

Lol ok, this GUI hasn't been posted about in more than a year now ...
I've tried it and it's rather cool, I would object on a couple of things though :
- Too many settings are predefined and can't be overridden (resolution, samplerate, etc.). Ex : I haven't found the 640*272 resolution needed for ratio 2.35 movies.
- I haven't found any mention of 2-pass encoding in it. The only test encode I did with it was 1-pass (and ugly looking, obviously xD)
- The GUI in itself is cluttered with "auto-alignment" code which makes the GUI jump from left to right when pressing on the "advanced options" buttons ... I found that rather wierd myself.
Edit : btw I believe this should be moved to the MPEG4 Encoding GUI's subforum.

This GUI is very easy to use. Perhaps it is not a opensource program. I also want to write a GUI like that. But this GUI dont allow me to adjust anything. All is profile.
FFMPEG will feed video to x264. Perhaps encoding will faster with this way. But I havenot known the way to do this :D .

ffmpeg -i "file" -vcodec rawvideo -an -f rawvideo - | x264 -o "file2" - wxh
That's the way it should work, but it doesn't really seem to all that often; plus it can't parse an avi out of the stdin bitstream, which would be helpful.

Thanks foxyshadis !
Do you often use FFMPEG ? I have some trouble. FFMPEG's forum doesn't have many members. I prefer forum to maillinglist. Can I send you my question by email ?

All I know of ffmpeg the program is from reading the help screens, and guesses based on the mplayer manual; I'm getting to know libavcodec inside it fairly well, but that doesn't help using it.
