View Full Version : DivX 6, FRAPS, VirtualDub, error -2
Hi,
I use FRAPS to record videos from games and i compress them with DivX using VirtualDub. But since i upgraded from DivX 5 to 6, I'm getting this error each time i try to compress a movie:
"Video Compression Error: The source image is not acceptable. (error code -2)"
And it stops there. :(
I use:
VirtualDub v1.5.10.1
FRAPS 2.5.5
DivX 6

You'll have to wait for a new version of FRAPS to support Divx 6. That's the solution to your problem.

I have the same probem with DivX6, not sure about 5 as I didn't have FRAPS before I 'upgraded'. If I try XVid then i get an error "stats file not found".followed by another error panel "cannot start video compression", "the operation is not supported".

Sorry people, I typed too soon, I tried a non-fraps files and had the same problem. The Xvid problem went away went I re-installed the codec, it must have got broken somehow.
cheers

The problem here is not fraps -> DivX compatibility...
You'll get this error if you encode with DivX in a resolution which is unsuited for the profile you selected. Try unconstrained.
And BTW - disable the "do not show warnings and error messages" in the DivX codec config, under the advanced button. Stupid defaults...

You also might want to try getting the official version of VirtualDub, as it's more stable.
