Help! Playback Subtitles?

Hello,
I have a DVD (Cantonese language) with English subtitles.
I've backed it up to XviD AVI, and using VobSub Rip have made a file: VTS_01_0.sub
How do you playback the subtitles with the movie, using WMP?
I am surprised that, with all his guides, there is no information on this process in the Doom9 website...
I made the backup with GordianKnot - it said to install DirectVobsub, so I did.
It didn't help...?
Help me out guys - how do I get these subtitles playing!?
I am not enjoying the AVI in Cantonese ;^(

Is the filename of the xvid VTS_01_0.avi AND is it in the same folder with the .sub file ?
If not, thats why it doesnt work!

i.e. filenames (except .avi <-> .sub) and folder must be the same

you also need the idx.
In effect idx / sub/ avi need to have the same name, and directvobsub set to autoload.

Thanks! I stumbled/bumbled my way almost to success...
idx / sub/ avi need to have the same name
...and then it worked :^)
The subtitle plugin now pops up in the tray (green-arrow) and we are in business.
