View Full Version : how to encode -> Turn on /off Subtitle

I'd like to ask a few question
1. is it possible to turn on/off a subtitle in *.avi ?
or is it exclusive only in *.ogm,*.mkv ?
2.how to encode a sub ,that enable to be turned on/off..
i usually encode using guardion knot 0.35 .....
or may be recommend me a faqs/guide that explain step by step how to encode such a subtitle ...

on your remote control, just press on subtitle and the subtitle will go off or on.

Right click on the Direct VobSub icon in your systray and select 'Hide subtitles'.

I *think* alex noé's AviMuxGui allows you to mux soft subtitles of some format (srt,ssa?) into AVI - however i never tried it (it is certainly not "what usually is done") :)

Yes, it can do that. It doesn't break anything else, so it can be safely done.

yeah, i didn't expect it to "break" - but had this impression some players/splitter would not recognize it and since about the time i would have started to care, matroska came up (so i continued to not care =))
