Does anybody knows any divx container benefits over mp4 container? I really can't understand DXN "Special Way" - why not to use MP4 standart?
:stupid:

DivX container (only a modified AVI container) is easier to support by DVD/DivX players : only few modifications, with MP4 you must have a new library in the player, more expensive.

atm .divx has no benefit over .mp4, as atm you cant place subs, chapters, nor menus in .divx
therefore .divx hasnt even a benefit over .avi atm (to be more accurate .divx = .avi atm)

You are in late :)
.divx from DXN (not from users) can have Subtitle, menus...
Go to DXN website and download DivX examples :)

With mp4 you need only one modification - use any mp4 splitter instead of MS avi splitter. Exactly the same modification you will need using some special divx splitter even if it is close to avi.

You can do your own xsubs at the moment, but then you can always use external subs with a regular avi. .divx has the advantage of being backwards compatible. You might miss out on the advanced features, but at least it will play.
