i was wondering with my tv tuner card with coax in and out, could i run my cable into my PC, descramble it with some sort of software, and then output it back to my tv? im curious to know if there is software like this....

Forum rule 6 warns you not to ask questions like this.

well it would be legit. i wanted to tell comcast and stop renting my cable box.

It wouldn't matter to them - they'll still charge you for the box. They want the money. Pure and simple. I can buy my cable box just about anywhere for $40, but the cable company said it didn't matter as the contract clearly states you pay for a box. They saw no need to make an exception for little old me.

hmm.....well i would still be curious about software that exists able to do that......i talked to my cable guy today and he said it would lower my bill....

Don't ask the cable guy, ask the cable COMPANY. You might find they have a completely different view on the matter.

I've never seen any. Hardware, yes. Software, no.

It is possible... though if it doesn't require your original decoder card, you are not allowed to discuss it here (the TV industry is very lawsuit happy).

it definetely does require my original decoder card....
