I have had a LG GSA-4040B for about 2 years and have never been tempted to update its firmware just in case I c*ck it up. I've no problems with its operation so far, but am I missing out by not updating, or is it a case of "if it aint broke....".

Personally, I'm with the "if it ain't broke..." theory. Unless it's a dual layer burner that might need updating to burn DL discs, I'd leave it alone!

Actually guys...

The "Hardware Players" section of the forum isn't the correct place to discuss this sort of thing... You need the "PC Hard & Software" section: -

And actually, new firmware versions tend to make the burning quality better on all media and add new writing strategies for newer media (so it doesn't have use a bulk strategy).

hello everyone,

i'm new here, i'm looking for a firmware upgrade for my LG LDA-530, specifically to be able to play xvid movies with resolutions higher than the max 720x576.

and maybe fix a few issues with the player, like long powerup/load time when a disc is already in the drive and support more characters in filename.

i heard fallenangel makes some firmwares, but his doesnt seem to break the resolution limitation.

Anyone know where i could find such a firmware ?
