Newby needs help

I got a movie(avi) that contains chinese subtitles. Is subrip what I want to use to remove them ? I have Avisynth - do I need third party plug-ins, and if so, which ones ? What do I do with the output files from subrip ? Is the removal process extremely lenghty ? Thanks in advance for help and patience, I am new at this.

SubRip right now only saves the bitmaps and intervals in which they appear - see http://zuggy.wz.cz/redir.php?co=101 . I am working on a VirtualDub plugin that will remove subtitles, but I need help, because I can't get it to work. Can anyone help?
