Subrip newbie question

When ripping subtitles with subrip, do I have to set the framerate somewhere? In the output box, I see a drop down box with various framerates but it doesn't seem to have an effect on the timings when the subs are ripped with subrip.

You only need to set the frame rate if you are saving in some frame-based fromat like MicroDVD .sub. The subtitles from subpacks (.idx + .sub) are time-based, so if you save as .srt the frame rate drop-down box has no effect. The same is true for DVD subtitles, the frame rate is detected from the .ifo file.
So, basically the drop-down box affects the conversion only if you save in a frame-based format.
