I have been using this little tool (just 295 KB) called Imageshackert for quite some time now and wanted to share this with you. This is an Imageshack uploader tool and is quite fast and a big timesaver.
Website - http://buggyashell.nl/progs/imageshackert/ (in Dutch)
Download link - http://buggyashell.nl/progs/imageshackert/download/ (software is in English).
Extract the imageshackert.exe from the zip file and put it in a folder (e.g: C:\Program Files\Imageshackert), now put a shortcut to this to your Desktop or Quick Launch bar (I have the shortcut on my QL bar).
Launch the app and set the options as below:
http://img158.echo.cx/img158/6355/isert44ar.png
The app:
http://img158.echo.cx/img158/3034/isert2ph.png
Browse and select the file, and click 'Host it':
http://img158.echo.cx/img158/8002/isert23pg.png
The file gets hosted and the url also copied to clipboard, the only thing left to do is to paste it into the forum between the [IMG] tags! DONE!
http://img158.echo.cx/img158/941/isert30kf.png
Since we all do a lot of image hosting, I hope you find this as useful as I did.

Where? All I can see is a weird page with lot of logos? and this is a web hosting companies' site? Also I didn't see any free options there. Is this some scam? Looks dodgy.

Have you ever used the ImageShack QuickLoad tool >here<? (http://reg.imageshack.us/content.php?page=quickload)
Once installed all you have to do is right-click on a picture and then select"ImageShack Quickload." to upload to ImageShack.
It requires MS Framework.NET to work though.
Just wondered if anyone has used it seems like a neat little tool and a breeze to use. ;)

I don't think so. That guy was probably trying to fish for customers from amongst gullible people. Please remove that link if possible.

I can't say I've had any good experiences downloading files hosted via "rapidshare"...
Everytime I log onto their "free" service I'm told the following: -

@SMD, 62.254.0.34 is the IP address of an NTLWorld web proxy cache. In most international (or UK based) forums, if you search for the IP 62.254.0.* (hostname - nott-cache-??.server.ntli.net) via the vBulletin/phpBB AdminCP, you will see many users for the same IP address. Each of those IP belongs to an NTLWorld gateway, which sorts of hides your real IP address from the outer world (not sure if this is the primary purpose of WPCs though, haven't seen this issue anywhere in NTSC land till now) - good in a way in that it offers some amount of privacy protection, bad in a way in that if a website decides to ban/blacklist one of these IPs, many people gets affected.
More detailed/useful info - http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d.h.walker/cmtips/trancache.html

Thanks...
This sort of thing is way over my head but your explanation has helped tremendously!
Do you know how/why "Premium Account" holders are not affected by the same limitation.... Not that I'm going to buy one!
Would it be worth our while if some of us Doom9 members pooled some money together and bought some additional web server space, so members could host "test files" of up to, say 10MB over a short period?

If you look at the RapidShare FAQ (http://rapidshare.de/en/faq.html), they have given a lucid explanation for this:
Your system complaints about that I am already downloading files or that I have already downloaded too much. But I did not download anything! Whats wrong there?
Our system checks your IP-address in order to count the downloads. If you are getting this message and you really did not download anything, then you are using a proxy-server, which is used by other people as well. Even if you have no proxy-server set up in your configuration, there are providers who put transparent proxy-servers between you and the net. Even if you are completely sure that you have no proxy-server attached, you are wrong. Compare the IP-address of the error-message with your real internet-IP. Those will differ. We only see your Proxy-IP. But what can you do? You have to disable this proxy-server. If you are not able to disable the proxy-server, we can only suggest you to get a Premium-account. Premium-users are recognized by cookies, not IP. Unfortunately we cannot disable our IP-check, else people would download so much that we would have to close down this service.
Now how to get around this?
The easiest way is to use an anonymous proxy. A little bit of googling will give you plenty of proxy lists, but most of them are snail-slow, if not already defunct within a few hours of getting listed. I poked around a bit more for a less painless method and I found this (http://www.00de.de/archive/topic/21239-1-rapidshare-with-ntl-england-help.html) page. If you read the thread, you can see a couple of workarounds suggested. Worth trying.
Us Doom9'ers buying webspace is not going to be of much use. Who will have access? Who controls the access? Also, you can't really go around and police the uploads, user A wants to upload a file of 10 MB, but alas no space left etc. Not to mention possible legal issues if the webspace thingy gets associated with Doom9, since this can also be interpreted as file-sharing (!!). If needed, there are many other alternatives to Rapidshare, so you are better off using them..namely YouSendIt.com + the others listed in the beginning of the thread.

However, unlike the afore mentioned files, each video or audio file would be deleted automatically after two or three days!
And thanks for the link ;)

hey, i just completely forgot about this post. I do not work for the site, and i could care less if they shut down. Dang! I would have told y'all if I remembered. I was looking for another post and couldn't find it so i did a search of posts i made, and came across this. haha. They have like 1 gig of space and 5 gigs of bandwidth. They supposidly have a plan with unlimited space and unmetered bandwidth. My cousin has a site with that and it is doing good for him. I wish he would let me use it for anime but he doesn't want to take any chances with my stuff. So he says I got to get my own. :(

I've googled to find other list/systems where to upload images for free. I found http://blog.t00lz.de/index.php/2005/09/13/mal_eben_eine_grafik_hochladen while googling. The Site shows the following picture hosters:
0com.net
2and2.net
bilder-hoster.de
desearch.net
directupload.net
fapomatic.com
file-upload.net
freepichosting.info
imagehigh.com

imageshark.ath.cx
imagevenue.com
imgholder.com
imgspot.com
theimagehosting.com
uploadengine.com

I am currently not sure which hoster allows what size in mb for images. But maybe you will find out it yourself. ;)

Unless it's a very recent occurrence, imageshack has not blocked doom9.org; in fact, does ImageShack even know where the link is when it's clicked?

Well, I'm sick of:
links to rapidshare
slow turkish webhosts
pending attachments
bad webhosting in general
so I've set up my own upload script here: http://files.project357.com/
It accepts almost all filetypes and has a (hopefully) nice file browser built in. Not much more to it, enjoy!

I would highly recommend avoiding Rapidshare, and perhaps Imageshack too. There are a number of other general file hosting sites listed in this thread, and from what I've seen Photobucket is decent for images.
Specific reasons:
Imageshack: Hey, this image is expired/you're using too much bandwidth/there's no such image/we don't like you/it's Tuesday, so instead of your image, here's an ad! Also, people always just blindly copy their code that makes the image a link back to their site, which is annoying.
Rapidshare: Downloading is as simple as closing a few popups (BTW, buy a premium account!), selecting Free (hey you should get a Premium account), closing some popups (did I mention we have Premium accounts?), waiting for a timer to count down for no real reason (did you know Premium accounts allow you to do advanced things like downloading files?), closing a popup or two (why don't you have a Premium account yet?), receiving an error message in German (dude you should have a Premium account!), and repeating this process about 17 times (why not get a Premium account?). More than likely (PS: buy a Premium account), you won't be allowed to use the free account at all (maybe you should try a Premium account), because even though you haven't used their site in months (omg go get a Premium account!), you've already downloaded 23432MB in the last 2 days (FYI, Premium accounts are great!).
If you must download from Crapidshare, you can use Proxomitron to kill the download timer (which is simply a Javascript counter); I'd post the filter I use, but they've probably changed their code since I last used it; it's pretty simple to figure out anyway. However, you'll still have to hit Back and Download over and over 17 times until you actually get a download instead of an error message.

Imageshack's other big problem: Their servers go up and down all the time, it's too unreliable since they put all the load-balancing right into the link. More than a few pics have been posted here that were unreachable for a day or two. Haven't seen photobucket have that sort of problem, or the other image hosts.

here are my 2 recommendations for file sharing...
for general files:
Wiki upload (http://www.wikiupload.com/)
I highly recommend this service!! a possible file upload up to 5GB - really a great side!!
for images:
Free Image Hosting (http://www.freeimagehosting.net/)
very stable and reliable hosting side - lean and clean layout and all usual image filetypes are supported.

well, you simply can't 'share' rapidshare stuff unless the user on the other end has an account themselves. on one hand the service is super fast and the quality is generally high, but you can't exactly 'share' as easy as you'd like. http://www.photopile.info/img/c/8.gif

I'd like to mention http://drop.io
You can create free "drops" of data, which are basically virtual folders with 100 MB of free space, then you can add files into that space and give the folder link to people.
It uses Amazon S3 storage so it should be pretty fast to most people.
