I got a strange problem
I have a nec3500a dvd burner and when i try to burn something the only speed i can choose from is 4x. no more no less. i used to have more speed options like 6x 8x and 2x but now they are all gone.
Im using Silverline DVD-R 8x media.

Can any one help?

Edit: Ok. I just tried to burn on a differnet media (TDK DVD-R 8x) and i got the rest of the speed options. So why do i get only one with the silver line media?

Never heard of that brand, Silverline. However, if you use the DVD identifier Here. (http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/) You may find more info on that type of disk and if you wish avoid it in the future.

We have all had issues with some DVD manufacturers. So, try to Identify the manufacturer of the DVD's that work for you.
Sounds like TDK is one of them. However, they use a couple different manufacturers. CMC Magnetics is one.

It's all about your firmware, it checks the mediacode and accordingly adjust the speeds. With a hacked firmware you will probably burn at higher speed, but recommended for such sit media.
