View Full Version : Casual audio stops

Don't know if it is the right forum.
Since some days i am experiencing sudden and casual halts in the playback of any audiostream.
With BS, Winamp and WMP.
I think it has to do with some codec but i can't understand which.
Suddenly, a movie or an mp3 doesn't matter, the audio stops (if it's a movie the video goes on).
A pause or a FFW or RW gets it back on its tracks.
Never had such problems before my specs are fairly high (AMD XP @2330mhz on a KT400, 1gig ram, audigy2 ZS, and an ati 9600xt) and this happens in idle situations as well as in loaded ones.
I hope you have some suggestions to troubleshoot this.

Install RealPlayer or other player , that has its own plugins.

What's for?
I don't want to use another player, especially not realplayer.
What should this do?
I never experienced this before in many many years, so i'd prefer help in troubleshooting why this is happening now.

Have you uninstalled the dinosaur codec pack - ACE Mega Codecs?
Because I had done that on a friend's computer. And it deleted some windows codecs, such as the mpeg layer 3 audio codec (mp3). Only RealPlayer could play mp3s, because it uses its own plugins.

You may install another mpeg layer 3 codec - I can send you MS's mp3 audio codec.

Good Luck...

No i still have them and i play mp3 nicely on every player.
Just that sometimes they halt.
