For the Steal Space from Extras and Half D1/Half Res, does this apply to everything but the highest VTS or everything but the highest file?

Meaning, if I have a DVD with a VTS_04 totaling 3972MB and a VTS_06 totaling 250MB, such as:

VTS_04_1.VOB 1024MB
VTS_04_2.VOB 1024MB
VTS_04_3.VOB 1024MB
VTS_04_4.VOB 900MB

VTS_06_1.VOB 250MB

Will only VTS_06_1.VOB be reduced in size/res, or will both VTS_06_1.VOB and VTS_04_4.VOB be reduced?

If this has been answered before, my apologies. I searched the forums with no luck.

Thanks,
SDragoon

The below information is in the DVD-RB Help File provided with the application.

Steal space from Extras (1)
This option allows you to improve your main movie quality by reducing the quality of extras. It works by taking storage space (10%, 25%, 33% or 50%) from whatever is in use by the extra and then reallocating it to the movie. This reallocation of space happens BEFORE other options -- so, for example, if you choose Half-D1/Half-Space and also choose 50% reduction, the Half-D1 size will be halved twice, resulting in a Half-D1/One-Quarter space.
CAUTION!!! Don't use this option with "Episode" DVDs!!! (read the note at the bottom).

Half-D1 and Half Space for Extras (1)
If Enabled, any extras (that are outside the main [largest] VTS) are resized to Half-D1 and allocated half the normal bitrate. The "recovered" space will be allocated to the main VTS. For movies with a lot of extras this can significantly improve the bitrate for the main movie. This option will NOT work with ReJig Mode.
CAUTION!!! Don't use this option with "Episode" DVDs!!! (read the note at the bottom).

I actually have already read the documentation (thank you very much! :p ), but I think I'm probably just making things more complex than they need to be. I have a tendency to do that.

The reason I asked is that I have heard of people having problems with episodic disks using extra reduction.
The particular episodic disks I have looked at have all of the actual episodes in VTS_04 and only extra in VTS_06.

Am I correct in assuming that using the extra reduction option in that case will not affect the episodes?

New to this whole thing, but figuring it out.

:thanks:

you posted info on 2 vts's , the fact that they span multiple vobs is irrelevant.

only the vts with the largest size is the "movie" (even if in reality it isnt), the rest are tagged as extras

Got it. A VTS is a VTS; subfiles are irrelevant (except to determine total VTS size).

Thanks.
