Your porblems are most likely a result of the Multi-Angle interleaving. Since (as I understand it) DVD-RB does not currently recompress some of that material properly, it's resulting in a ultra-low bitrate for your disc, which would make it worthless.
However, Version 1 of DVD-RB is nearing completion, and the primary feature is heavily rewritten interleaving support. JDobbs has pledged not to stop until it's working and judging from his comments, seems to be making good progress. So I guess jsut be a bit patient until then. ^_^
Incidentally, my wife has never seen The Abyss. Does the DVD have all the extended scenes that some of the old Laserdisc versions had?

thank you for your reply
well there's theatrical and special edition on the first disc
that's where this multi angle interleaving comes in play i suppose
haven't really got a clue what's the difference between them
don't know about laserdisc versions

I know it's frowned upon, but if you could preprocess it and strip the multiangle portion with other tools (PGC Edit comes to mind) first and then make another attempt at backing it up...
FWIW, there've been many occassions I've had to do this with either CloneDVD2, PGC Edit, or the like in order to get rid of the ILUV (multiangle) stuff so that Rebuilder could successfully process a given movie. This is generally discouraged I think, more to eliminate non-existent bugs due to improper handling by 3rd party software (like the examples I've already given, not to mention DVD Shrink, etc).
I own this title, I can have a go at it when time permits.

Hi, I also have this title and the best thing to do is what NightSta says... strip one of the movies and then use dvd-rb.
Backing up the whole dvd will give very bad quality, because the average bitrate (of the original) is about 3,500 KB/s (I'm are talking about 5 hours worth of video for the 2 movies).
What i'm planning to do is use DvdREmake (no publicity intended) to strip one of the angles and add a small clip saying "please insert special/thetrical version),if it's possible but i bvelieve it is, and then use dvd-RB to compress the resulting disc.

I'd say so. The DVD version had Cameron go back into post-production and add effects that simply weren't possible at the time of filming.

I have no problems with preprocessing... that's why DVD-RB is built the way it is. Creativity and resourcefulness are encouraged... Preprocessing can be a valuable part of building the DVD you want.
What I discourage is posting "DVD-RB bugs" on a preprocessed source. The reason it is important to make that distinction is that some of the preprocessing tools are very powerful and in can mistakenly be used to "butcher" the source. Posting a DVD-RB bug on a preprocessed source is kinda like running your car over a cliff and then complaining to Audi because the wheel alignment is now off.

If I pay you money for your software will it fix this problem (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=95757) or at least get me a few pointers to help me figure out what is causing this problem I ran into? I am not opposed to giving you money for your software. Especially if I can get it to work.

It appears you are the only person having that problem. I burn every one of my discs with mkisofs.exe... you have to be doing something different. It's pretty much impossible to fix an error I can't repeat.
What are the complete circumstances surrounding it? Preprocessing? Post processing? Editing the IFOs?

I got exactly the same problem like his when trying to back up a DVD with multi angle/ILUV. I have used registeredDVDRB pro 0.93.2 and other older versions of DVDRB without luck so I gotta try Big 3 method!! No preprocessing or anything!! I got the same log file like his!!!

This is a known issue. If you read the README.TXT file you'll see that very large ILVU segments are not yet supported -- but will be in Version 1.00.
