I am reaaaly sorry for openning another thread asking for help to playback nero outputted file. I have read MP4 FAQ and other advice about this probleem, but nothing helped me to solve the problem.
1. I installed Nero package including NVE. Can play the mp4 file and no problem in encoding using AVC profile.
2. I sent the nero encoded file to my freind. He complained me he cant play the file. I told him to install ffdshow, 3vix codec with Media Player Classic. Nothing helped him.
3. I uninstalled all Nero related programs from my PC and tested to play mp4 file. "no decompressor codec found" message. Installed the latest FFdshow and 3vix codec, with no luck.
4.Installed Nero full package again, mp4 is now played.
From this so called experiment, I can conclude that nero outputted mp4 needs some specific filter or codec included in NVE to play.
If I am wrong, please enlighten me.

In order to be able to play content generated by Recode, you need suitable filters.
Regarding AVC, the only decoder filter fully compliant is the one that is provided in the Nero package since ffdshow is far from being compliant yet. This could eventually change in the next months since AVC is an open standard.
The MP4 file parser is another issue. Currently 3ivx seems to have a filter but I don't know if it supports AVC.
On the audio front, there are AAC-LC decoders around.
A last note : it's difficult to blame Nero for the inabilities of others to be able to decode common streams based on open standards. Several companies have products that are indeed able to decode Recode files but the Nero package is by far the cheapest.

momentum, the 3ivx splitter doesnt support avc-in-mp4 till now (i made this now explicitely clear in my faq :) )!
tell your friend to install the moonlight splitter (+ ffdshow or the moonlight decoder)
or use videolan
or use mplayer
or buy a copy of nero vision express ;)
i wouldnt say that nero is the only complete avc decoder till now, never had a problem with moonlight (shows a logo during playback tough, still its available for free...)
ffmpeg (as used in ffdshow, videolan and mplayer, which are also freely available) has a limitation as it doesnt handle avc b-frames
edit: just read that the b-frame issues with ffmpeg have been solved just today. if you wait one day or two you will be able to find a working ffdshow here (http://celticdruid.no-ip.com/xvid/ffdshow/)

Sorry, you're right : the current version of Nero Recode does not generate streams that cause problems to the current version of Moonlight decoder :)
