In the advanced DVD-RB guide, it suggests hidden settings for CCE SP to alter the minimum and maximum bitrates that CCE can use

Do these hidden settings woke for CCE SP 2.70.02.00, I've tried adding these settings so I can have a lower minimum bitrate, which to my way of thinking will allow more bitrate for action scenes if needed, but still allow CCE to set the average bitrate, maybe increasing the average bitrate as the lower bitrate allows more 'breathing space'

But looking through the logs, it doesn't seem to have had any effect

My minimum and maximum bitrates I want to try are :

minbitrate = 1150
maxbitrate = 8000

Thanks

I'm using the latest DVD-RB Pro 0.93.2

Sorry to say that's a bad idea...because if the encoder can't decrease under 1150 the bitrate for low action scenes, it will miss more for high action scenes !!! On the contrary it would be better to put 0 as a minimum!!!

Bad idea. I agree with SAPSTAR completely. It is best to give the encoder all the room it can to reallocate as needed and let it make the decision based upon the demand.

DVD-RB will also automatically limit the high-end based upon the audio needs.

Okay, just thought I'd have a play, thanks

What about enabling the MAX_BITRATE in HC? I mean just being able to drop from 9000 to say 8500 on movies with little action. Leave minimum alone.

I mean it is available in CCE why not HC?

The existing MAXBITRATE setting(s) work with HC. DVD-RB also automatically adjusts it lower when necessary to provide headroom for audio.
