I made a home video DVD with 20 chapter points. I clicked on Menu/Scene Selection Menu/ Thumbnail Scene Selection. It brought up a bunch of templates and I picked the one with the green background and 4 large thumnail windows. All I did here was "remove the background image" on all the chapter selection pages and replace it with my own background image and made move all the way to the back so the windows/buttons etc would be visible.

Then I "rendered' each of the 5 pages of Chapters in DLP Pro itself as mpeg2. I linked the first page of the chapters to the main menu.
I also made sure to go back and import the rendered pages to each corresponding chapter menu page. It's supposed to auto-route but i checked each button anyway, and they all seemed to be linked as they should be.

before I tried animating the thumnails in this particular disc, I used static thumnail templates which worked perfectly in my console DVD players. After I animated these clips, the chapter menu only works up till page 2, then the ">>|" button does not get even hilighted, so there is no way to get to page 3, 4, or 5. Pages 1 and 2 of the chapter selection menu work just fine as they should...

I took out the disc and tried in PowerDVD, and it worked fine, but it wont work in any "real" dvd player, as it should. The rest of the movie is fine: video, audio, and chapter selection points.

I remember getting a warning in DLP saying the clips that it itself rendered were Open GOPs and that could cuase a problem with chapter selection points, so for a second disc, i encoded in CCE and closed the GOPs of the clip files.

I tried building a project using the Normal (VTS Menu + Movie) and the Advanced (VMG, VTS Menu + Movie) options. But i got the exact same result in both cases. They will not play in my console DVD player.

Why would this happen or what am i missing? i dont think i'm missing anything? is that one template defective or something?
